Class Teacher – Mrs Freshwater
Teaching Assistant – Mr Maunder
In Reception, we plan a wide range of learning experiences including daily communication and language, mathematics and literacy lessons. We also provide opportunities for children to develop their own ideas through continuous provision. Our aim is to support our young learners to develop their independence and confidence together with a love of learning.
Wherever the children will be doing their learning, at school or at home, I hope they will enjoy the planned activities. I’m sure they will continue to develop their positive attitudes to having a go that I have seen emerging over the year so far.
Our summer two topic is “Sun, Sea and Sand”. The children will hear, retell, act out and write about stories with a sea theme including Tiddler, Rainbow Fish and The Singing Mermaid.
As well as finding out about sea creatures and the physical features of our coastal environment, the children will think about different types of buildings and occupations within Teignmouth.
In maths, they will add to their number and calculation skills, developing strategies in addition, subtraction, halving, doubling and sharing.
In physical development, they will learn to play group games and use small equipment with increasing coordination.
Reception children continue to have their PE lessons set by Mrs Henry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and outdoor learning set by Mr Ball on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
