About Reception
In our Reception class, the children take part in daily communication and language, mathematics and literacy lessons. Throughout the day, children have the opportunity to develop their own ideas through thoughtfully resourced continuous and extended provision. Our young learners are supported to develop confidence, independence and a thirst for learning.
Summer 2
This half term our topic is “What lives in a rockpool?”. The children will be learning about sea creatures and sharing sea-themed stories such as Tiddler, The Storytelling Fish, Rainbow Fish, Elliot and the Big Wave and The Singing Mermaid.
The children will learn about Teignmouth as a holiday destination and look at the physical features of our environment.
They will illustrate and retell stories, further developing their sentence writing with capital letters and full stops.
They will find out more about lifecycles and consider their own growth and change.
The children have worked together to retell and draw the story of Rosie’s walk.
