About Reception

In our Reception class, the children take part in daily communication and language, mathematics and literacy lessons. Throughout the day, children have the opportunity to develop their own ideas through thoughtfully resourced continuous and enhanced provision. Our young learners are supported to develop confidence, independence and a thirst for learning.

This half term, our topic is ‘How does your garden grow?’

The children will learn about and recognise the signs of spring, plant seeds and explore what happens to them. Through our linked stories, the children will get to know about all the delights of gardening and answer the many questions they have. We plan on visiting a local allotment so that the children can experience what they are learning about first hand.

Outdoor Learning: Wednesday afternoons

PE:

  • Monday afternoons with Mrs Emery (ball skills – normal school uniform)
  • Friday afternoons with Mrs Wilde (dance & gymnastics – come to school in PE clothes.
