Class Teacher – Mrs Freshwater
Teaching Assistant – Mr Maunder
In Reception, we plan a wide range of learning experiences including daily communication and language, mathematics and literacy lessons. We also provide opportunities for children to develop their own ideas through continuous provision including texture trays, construction, puzzles and mark-making activities. Our aim is to support our young learners to develop their independence and confidence together with a love of learning.
Our spring two topic is “Growth and Change”. Two of our key texts will be “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “The Bad-Tempered Ladybird”. The children will be using non-fiction books and age-appropriate web pages to find information.
The children will learn about the importance of Easter to Christians and how Easter is celebrated. They will look for signs of spring and think about the changes that happen as babies grow into children and adults.
They will use simple tools and techniques while using materials and also explore how sounds change.
This term, Reception children will have PE lessons with Mrs Henry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; Outdoor Learning with Mr Ball will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The children will be able to change library books on Tuesdays or Thursdays while they may change their class reading books daily.
