About Reception
In our Reception class, the children take part in daily communication and language, mathematics and literacy lessons. Throughout the day, children have the opportunity to develop their own ideas through thoughtfully resourced continuous and enhanced provision. Our young learners are supported to develop confidence, independence and a thirst for learning.
Our topic this half term is ‘Once upon a Time’.
The children will listen to and retell familiar traditional tales and start to describe characters and settings from these stories. The children will learn about summer; they will explore the world around them and learn about the life cycle of a frog. We will find out why places are special to people and share religious stories. The children will follow a recipe and make gingerbread men… will they run away?
We will visit Occombe farm to meet some of the animals that appear in the fairy tales that we will read. Our topic will end with a tea party dressed as fairy tale characters.
