Yr 5 Mr Correy
Our topic this term is called ‘Looking at London’.
During geography lessons, we will locate the countries, counties and major cities of the UK and explore their human and physical features. We will learn how and why London started as a settlement and how it has changed over time. In history, will find out about the royal family and create a family tree. This will link with our literacy, where we will write a biography about a member of the royal family. Also, we will be reading ‘The London Eye Mystery’ and trying to write a new paragraph from the point of view of one of the characters. In ICT, we will use google maps and street view to explore the famous sights of London. Our RE lessons will involve finding out what it is like to be a muslim in Britain today.
Just a gentle reminder that children should be reading every night. It would be greatly appreciated if you could read with your child to help them develop their vocabulary and understanding of the text. Reading diaries can still be completed at least three times per week.
