Yr 3/4/5/6 Miss Powley
This half term, our topic is ‘Our Home’. We will be learning all about our local area and talking about how lucky we are to live by the seaside.
We will continue to spend time working on developing our understanding of our emotions and discuss the changes we are facing currently. We will spend time talking about any worries and focus on sharing these worries as a class.
We will be researching and creating fact files about sea creatures and thinking about how we can take care of our beaches and coastline. We will be learning how to take care of ourselves at the beach and thinking about sun/sea safety.
We will be looking at our local area and using maps to find a range of locations near our school. We will be looking at positional and directional language to help others to find these locations. We will be imagining a trip for our favourite Teddy in the local area and thinking about what activities you can do here in Teignmouth.
Through history, we will be researching and looking closely at photographs of Teignmouth in the past and comparing these to what we see in the present day!
We will continue to focus on our comprehension and use of phonics skills during our guided reading. Children in school will also continue to access daily phonics sessions and can enjoy our story time. I will also be continuing to upload story time to Seesaw.
Through RE, we will be learning what makes places sacred to believers and the importance of respecting these beliefs.
