This half term, our topic is ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’.
We will be learning through a key focus text or a range of non-fiction texts each week and our continuous provision will also follow this theming.
Our focus texts this half term are as follows:
The Tiger who Came to Tea,
As well as a range of non-fiction books linked to our jungle topic.
In literacy, we will be focusing on developing our comprehension skills and building confidence when reading 1:1. We will be writing simple sentences using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We will begin to use joining words such as ‘and’, ‘because’ and ‘but’ to extend our writing. We will continue to participate in small group guided reading sessions and enjoy AR quizzing during library times. We will also engage in funky finger activities to improve our fine motor skills.
In mathematics, we will be focusing on length, height, weight and volume, We will engage in maths investigations, outdoor learning based around length and also practical-based activities. We will then continue to practise recognising and utilising numerals 0-50 when working on place value.
Through topic, we will be exploring different animal patterns and how we can recreate these patterns using a range of different materials. We will explore animal sounds and sing songs based around our topic.
