Yr 1 Miss Langdown
Our topic for spring term 1 is ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’.
During this topic, we will be identifying and naming a variety of animals and where they originate from as part of our science and geography. In ICT, we will be using the internet to research different animals and present our findings to the class. We will be looking at different animal prints and experimenting with different ways to create our own animal patterns in art, and as part of our music, we will be singing animal songs and creating our own music inspired by the sounds that different animals make. To support all of this, in literacy, we will be reading ‘Augustus and His Smile’, ‘Meerkat Mail’ and ‘Monkey Puzzle’ and writing letters and descriptions. In R.E., we will be thinking about why it is so important to look after our world and what that means for us.
A gentle reminder that children should be reading at home every week, writing in the yellow reading records and handing them in on a Friday morning. Remember, the more reading your children do, the more leaves they will get on our class reading tree!!
