Yr 1 Miss Langdown
Our topic for this half term is ‘Oh, but it’s cold outside!’. During this topic we will be focusing a lot of our learning around the season of winter. In literacy we will be reading a collection of winter based stories, writing our own setting descriptions, writing letters and writing instructions on keeping safe around fireworks. In science we will be doing and experiment to see which materials are best for keeping something warm, and we will look at seasonal changes and how autumn turns into winter!
We will be looking at Bonfire Night and looking into the history of why we celebrate it, and who Guy Fawkes is. During RE this half term, we will be looking at various festivals and celebrations across different religions and thinking about why Christmas matters to Christians. We will be thinking in PSHE about how we can keep safe and healthy in different situations.
We will be creative this half term and make firework paintings and Christmas cards, using our ICT skills to type messages for those cards. We will be working really hard towards our Christmas production and we look forward to performing our songs in front of an audience as part of this.
