Yr 6 Mrs Dudley
Our topic for autumn term 1 is ‘Darwin’s Discoveries’. During this topic, we will be finding out about Charles Darwin, his famous voyage on the HMS Beagle, his ideas and how they impacted on scientific thinking around evolution and adaptation. We will write a biography all about him in literacy. We will use our geography skills to find out about one of the famous places he visited: the Galapagos Islands and we will look at adaptation, variation and evolution in science. In R.E. we will consider whether scientific ideas of how life on Earth formed compliments or contradicts Christian beliefs.
Our library time is on a Friday which allows us time to quiz and collect new reading books for the weekend. Just a gentle reminder that children should be reading their AR books every night and quizzing at least once a week.
Now we are in year 6, we need to be taking more responsibility for completing any home discovery journal tasks, practising spellings and bringing in our kits on appropriate days.
- P.E – Tuesday afternoons with Mrs Henry.
