Yr 3/4/5 Miss Powley
This half term, our topic is ‘Enchanted Woodland.’ We will be learning through a key focus text each week and our continuous provision will also follow this theming.
Our focus texts this half term are:
Owl Babies by Martin Waddell, The Owl who was afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson, Percy the Park Keeper and Badger’s Bath by Nick Butterworth, The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson. As well as a range of non-fiction books linked to our autumnal topic.
In literacy, we will be focusing on developing our comprehension skills and build confidence when reading 1:1. We will be writing simple sentences using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We will also engage in funky finger activities to improve our fine motor skills.
In mathematics, we will be focusing on place value within 50 and begin to explore simple addition and subtraction. We will engage in number bonds to 10 and 20 activities and continue to focus on our number formation.
Through topic, we will be exploring seasonal changes, building nests and dens for characters from our stories in the wildlife area, drawing maps and discussing where they lead, baking cakes for our fairy visitors and even hiking through Haldon Forest in search of a Gruffalo!
