Uniform, Breakfast and After School Club

***Term begins on Wednesday 9th September 2020***

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to let you know of some updates for September.

Our breakfast club will commence in September at a charge of £2.50 per pupil from 8am-8.45am. If your child’s start time to school differs from this due to the staggered start times, we will take them to their classrooms to start school at 8.45am. They will receive breakfast during this time and a range of activities to choose from. We will be keeping pupils in their set bubbles in the hall to support our risk assessments. Pupils can book onto this from now using School Money. Pupils must be booked on and cannot just turn up. Initially these places will be capped at 15 pupils in line with guidelines. This is open to pupils from Reception-Year 6.

We will also be continuing with our own after school provision charged at £9.95 for the session. This will be 3pm-6pm and will include a light snack. If pupils finish school at a different time due to the staggered finish times, the pupils will be taken to the hall after school. Again, these will be capped at 15 pupils initially and will be from Reception-Year 6 and can be booked on via School Money. Both provisions are run by our own staff who know the pupils well and will operate with the school’s expectations and risk assessments.

Another update is surrounding our school uniform. The Government has just updated the post-Covid advice (on 2 July) and strongly advised all schools to return to school in September in uniform. This makes good sense educationally as uniform promotes identity and good behaviour, and this signifies a return to some sort of normality. Our system for ordering uniform has had to change because the Exeter Road uniform shop is closing. The site previously off-set some of the costs for parents by bulk ordering and providing in school. They can no longer do this and therefore, with added inflation, there are some price rises. If parents are struggling with the costs of uniform please communicate with us; we can support where there is financial hardship, and of course we know that there is a lot of financial hardship in these difficult times.

Uniform will be available to order from the Mill Lane site on Monday 7th September and Tuesday 8th September (non-pupil days) to finish off the stock available at Exeter Road. Please phone the site on these days and let them know what sizes you require and we will get them ready for you to collect. Alternatively, you can order with our new online system using the link below and this will be delivered to your house. The school jumper and tie are compulsory. There are trousers, skirts, shirts available to buy here, however you may also purchase them elsewhere if you choose. Our full uniform policy is available on our website.

To help keep the costs down for parents, we are going to be changing our PE top to move towards a new house point colour which we will update you on in September. This will counteract the costs of the rise in jumpers and tie. You will be updated in September as to what house colour your child is in and given the link to purchase the t-shirts then. For those first few weeks until pupils have the t-shirts, they can continue to wear the old t-shirts or a t-shirt from home. As there has been lots of changes, we can work together with parents and have some flexibility in those few weeks with uniform.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents for working with us over the past few months. Your support has been amazing and it has been greatly appreciated over what has been a turbulent few months for us all. Your positive comments have been valued. We have missed the children very much and we can’t wait to see everyone back in September. Have a relaxing and safe summer.

Best wishes,

Annabelle Thomas
