Update 21/01/21

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you are all well and settling into the ‘new normal’, whether that be at home completing remote learning with your children or continuing to come into school.

We have around 27% of our usual school population attending daily who are key worker and vulnerable pupils. This number is relatively low in comparison with other schools. Thank you for helping to keep our numbers low and the pupils at home where you possibly can. We miss our school community and have enjoyed seeing their learning on Seesaw.

The DfE devices that we have received have been going out to those families that need them. We still have some devices left if anyone requires them. Please contact andrew.webber@teignmouthschool.co.uk to express your interest if you entail one. An agreement will need to be signed by you and they will need to be returned to the school once we fully return. We have also been donated 4 devices by Chamberlains estate agency (article on the website) and had an anonymous donation of £100 by a member of the community to help support with devices also. We are very appreciative of these devices and will put them to good use.

Teachers will be contacting you at least fortnightly to maintain contact with pupils in their class and to see how they are getting on with their remote learning. We are still responsible for the learning and safeguarding of the pupils during this time, so if you miss our call, please do phone us back. We are also tracking engagement on Seesaw so do please continue to upload their wonderful work. We love to see it.

You may have seen in the press that primary school staff will begin to be tested from next week. Staff have had their training and I think that this is a really positive step in helping to reduce the spread of Covid, particularly for the 1/3 people that are asymptomatic.

Thank you for your continued support. If you wish to contact me to discuss any of this further, please do so via e-mail on annabelle.thomas@teignmouthschool.co.uk

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Annabelle Thomas
Head of School
